Francesco Matinata, Senior Designer of MCM Group China, attended the Singularity Think Tank Agricultural Seminar to make a presentation on MCM’s work in Agricultural Tourism.

Mr. Matinata pointed out that, “traditional Chinese residential real estate is facing an inability to maintain the rapid growth of the past decade. Many companies have sought growth by turning to tourism real estate without fully understanding the complexities of developing tourism properties.”

MCM has decades of experience in planning tourism projects and nearly ten years in designing agricultural tourism projects. “Compared with traditional tourism, ecological agricultural tourism can be developed almost everywhere,” according to Claudia Zhang, General Manager MCM China, “As cities develop, more and more customers prefer weekend leisure tourism, ecological foods and healthy environments . But a key issue of ecological agricultural tourism is how to avoid producing the same copied experiences. So the design of ecological agricultural tourism is very important.”

During Mr. Matinata’s keynote address, he showcased a few MCM Agriculture projects:

COFCO Beijing Agro-Ecology Valley

MCM designed this Agro-Ecology Valley for COFCO Group. There are COFCO retail shop, ecological restaurants, ecological hotels, VIP hotels and 1700 mu of agricultural landscape area. MCM designed more than 40 interactive activities for this project, in order to provide entertainment and educational experiences showcasing COFCO’s agriculture products.

Qingdao Cangma Agricultural Resort

Cangma Agricultural Resort is an award winning project that MCM has been designing for over six years. Covering 3,000 mu, the residential and tourism community is planned right inside a world-class blueberry farm. With 1500 residences and a retirement community equipped with advanced medical facilities, MCM worked extensively to create an ecologically sustainable development that combined residential development, tourism attractions and a very large working farm.
